As a season ticket holder since their inaugural 2021 season, it was a dream to create gameday posters for my local Major League Soccer club, Austin FC. The team works closely with local artists to produce posters for each match that are used to promote the game and are handed out to thousands of those in attendance.
March 30 - vs. FC Dallas
Austin’s biggest rival and northern neighbor, the FC Dallas match is always a big one. This poster depicts Austin’s animal mascots (the armadillo and grackle) going toe-to-toe with the Dallas bull (and a nod to their original Dallas Burn name), all housed in a folk art soccer field. This poster quickly became the most popular matchday poster Austin FC has ever done, immediately selling out and bringing loads of interaction to their social media channels.
May 18 - vs. Sporting Kansas City
A nod to the Spring blooms of the Texas bluebonnet, this poster features a stylized vase commemorating this Western Conference matchup. Leaves and trees are used to represent Austin FC, while the diamonds and light blue are a nod to Sporting KC’s signature argyle brand motif.
